This booklet, written to accompany the exhibition of the same name, provides an introduction in an accessible style to the archaeology of Koma Land and the figurines that have made the region famous. Subjects considered include discovery and current research, figurine manufacture, the threats facing the sites and figurines today, and how the figurines were variously integrated into religions and rituals, and healing and medicine, and what they tell us about peoples concepts of personhood and the body in the past. The booklet is beautifully illustrated with photographs of the figurines taken by Alan Seabright from Manchester Art Gallery. It is obtainable from Manchester Museum.
